I used talcum powder for a while but this works so much better. Even if I mix the green sand a bit wet it still make both halves of the mold and pattern release.

Petrobond Sand Metal Casting Kit.

The Kit contains:-

• Premixed petrobond sand 4kg.
• Petrobond Powder – 0.5kg
• Petrobond Oil – 0.3kg (300ml)
• Graphite Powder (Parting Powder) - 0.15kg

The extra oil and powder can be added to the sand after it has been used to keep it in good casting condition as the hot metal burns out a small amount of the oil and powder each time it’s used.

You might want to add more powder or oil to get the sand to the consistency you need to suit the casting you are doing too.

NITRAL 10 is commonly used as an additional cleaning agent after transfer of already cleaned and treated melts.

Generally the melt should be treated with NITRAL 10 after each refill. The required amount is plunged with a clean and perforated plunging bell into the melt.

After finishing the reaction the dross is removed carefully from the melt surface.

• 9.2kg Pre mixed 'Green Sand' ready to use. The ratio by volume is 10:1 (10 parts Sand : 1 part Bentonite & Water has been added to approx 8%)

This sand is finer than the 45 Grade. If making Green Sand wih this grade you may need to double the amount of Bentonitie used to coat the incresed surface area of the larger volumen of smaller sand particles.
